Coding for Creatives

Have you have ever wanted to create a piece of art or design something using digital tools as a medium? But didn't know where to start? Then this course is for you. You might want to generate your own automatic drawing program, manipulate the pixels on a digital photo or create a real-time data visualisation. This course will get you started and is intended for anyone with no previous experience of coding.

On the course you will be introduced to the fundamentals of creative coding whilst making your own graphical project. This course is intended for artists, designers or anyone who would like to learn more about the basics of digital tools and expand their digital literacy.

Using the programming languages Processing and Javascript you will learn how to control all the main graphical elements that make up a programs visual outputs. Altering colours, manipulating shapes and designing your own unique patterns. The course will then progress to allow participants to explore repetition, randomness and how to create interaction in their projects.
